New TE Connectivity HCR150 Battery Isolator (information)

A short Blog (test)  on these battery isolators, they provide essential safety features for race car builds, offering a cost-effective solution compared to other options. Priced at $95 AUD.... a top-quality choice.
What you will need?
  • The TE HCR150
  • 2 Blue Buttons one for inside the vehicle and one for external use
  • A plug for the TE socket so you can wire the buttons and your ECU for logic
  • Use the $300-$400 you just saved from the other silimar options (cartek or similar) available towards seat time.

What else is available?

The Cartek or silimilar option below uses the negative post to isolate the battery and is a great product but not conviced this product shuts off automatically if there is a rollover or can shut the entire system including alternator power by simple logic like the TE can at 1/4 of the pirce. We sell nor promote either brand this is just a blog post.

The old Fashined way......
Nothing wrong with this tried and proven system but it has aged.
can this switch off automatically if it a rollover or large impact is detected by the ECU?
if its not the FIA level manual switch it wont even disable the alternator from feeding some systems if wired icorrectly or other precautions arent taken.

Below ling is a great video by Motec by Motec Engineer talking about battery isolation  (explains some wiring and logic), If you are building or own a racecar, watch it as it will help you build a safe system.

What we have done
So we started making mounts (at the request of racers) to integrate the unit next to some PDM or ECU PDM versions that manufacturers offer  to mount the TE Unit cose to the PDM post for eas of wiring and to shorten the distance of the active wire (product links below)
Note: The Motec and Haltech PDM mounts are reversible, allowing for left or right-side mounting, and can be installed upside down to suit your specific application
